Ideal Stelrad and BSS win major Partnership Agreement
Ideal Stelrad and BSS have been awarded a major partnership agreement by Amec, the international project management and services company, to supply high efficiency heating and hot water systems to one of the largest PFI projects in the UK.
South Lanarkshire Council is currently undertaking a massive £300 million modernisation programme to deliver 17 new and two refurbished secondary schools to enhance the whole of the Council’s learning curriculum. Amec has been appointed the lead consortia member of InspirED, a Special Purpose Company formed specifically to bid for South Lanarkshire PFI.
A spokesperson at Amec, said: Volatile energy prices coupled with more stringent legislation introduced to drive up the efficiency of commercial buildings mean it is now vitally important to identify cost-effective and energy efficient solutions that will help reduce energy bills and improve the overall energy performance standard of a building.
A key factor in this is the heating and hot water systems installed. Over the years, we have developed an excellent relationship with Ideal Stelrad based on the quality and reliability of its boilers and radiators. To complement this, the company is committed to providing a first class service offering, which has included on-site training, annual service checks and an extended warranty.
As part of the partnership agreement, BSS Glasgow is supplying each South Lanarkshire PFI school with three Ideal Vanguard L pressure jet boilers for the heating and hot water systems.
Specifically designed for commercial and industrial applications, the Vanguard L is compact in size yet extremely powerful and efficient in performance, meeting all requirements at both full and part load for low emissions and high operating efficiencies (92-93% net efficiency). All models are suitable for gas or oil firing, with comprehensive control panels provided to maximise control and minimise running costs.
BSS Glasgow is also providing over 6,000 Low Surface Temperature (LST) and Elite radiators from Stelrad, Europe’s leading steel panel radiator manufacturer. Approximately 400 radiators will be installed in each school to meet the heating load requirements.
Stelrad’s extensive range of LST radiators are specifically designed for safety critical applications such as schools. With 144 models available in two variations – the LST Standard and LST Plus – the range provides installers with a choice of low surface temperature radiators for literally any application. The Stelrad Elite, with 216 models available, is the UK’s most popular radiator, providing excellent sizing flexibility for installers.
Paul Hawkins, national sales manager for Ideal Stelrad’s commercial division, said: Boilers and radiators are two of the main components of any heating system. With the ability to provide both of these from one source, it puts Ideal Stelrad in a unique position in the heating market.
Ultimately, this agreement is an important milestone for developing the Ideal Stelrad brand in the PFI market. It also signals an excellent partnership approach to working and builds on the successful relationship we developed with Amec when Ideal Stelrad was selected for the Glasgow PFI project back in 2000.
